Electives

Academic skills and qualification are only part of what students need to be successful; both in their career and life in general. There are many ways in which we seek to develop these wider skills but one is through the electives programme. We also believe that while physical education is not compulsory in post 16 education every student should be encouraged to maintain a physically active lifestyle and the electives programme allows us to do that. All 16-18 students not on an apprenticeship will be expected to take part in this programme.

There are two aims of the electives programme.

It should provide students with:

  • Valuable wider skills which help prepare them for employment or higher academic study
  • An incentive to follow a physically active life

Students may choose between four electives pathways

  1. Leadership
  2. Fitness and Sport
